short break skiing

short break skiing

We understand the importance of getting maximum enjoyment for minimum cost when it comes to skiing. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing 3 or 4 day alpine break as a couple or a long weekend with friends, we want to ensure you get the most out of your skiing short break. All our short break skiing trips are to resorts with the shortest transfers so that you have less travel time for maximum time on the slopes.

The first thing is to decide how many days you want to be away for. We want you to get as much skiing in as possible so would recommend an early flight out and a late flight home so you can pick up equipment on the day you arrive and get straight on the snow the next day. Alternatively, make it a more relaxed affair with later flights. Why not book into a hotel with a spa and wellness suite as well for total escape and relaxation?

Some resorts (most of France) prefer a Saturday arrival and departure so you might need to be a bit flexible with days or with which resort you travel to.

If you’re able to, we always recommend skiing out of peak times for the best value and least busy pistes! Top recommended times to go:

  • Early December – resort opening to before Christmas holidays is usually a great time to ski. Good snow, minimal lift queues but there’s still a cheery, festive buzz about the resort
  • January – after New Year is fabulous, generally great snow conditions and empty slopes
  • March – longer days, and spring skiing makes for a great short break! Stay high for good conditions.
  • April – the season generally ends at the end of April, but early and mid April can offer some fabulous skiing. Get out early, then take a long lunch around 14:30 before gently skiing back to your hotel and enjoy après ski activities in the late afternoon.
