EL TARTER AT A GLANCE
El Tarter is a small village 100m below Soldeu at 1700m int he Grandvalira. El Tarter is a quieter village than its neighbours Soldeu and Pas de la Casa and this makes it a perfect destination for families and couples. However, El Tarter does boast one of the best après bars in the area - L’Abarset which is situated right at the foot of the slopes. Enjoy some great music and apres ski drinks upt 8pm each evening! What makes this resort one of our favourites is the convenience and facilities of the Hotel Nordic which is right on the slopes offering true ski in ski out convenience.

Couples holidays in El Tarter
El Tarter is a perfect resort for couples. With glorious mountain views and roaring log fires, couples will love the intimacy, romantic feel of El Tarter. With a brilliant selection of warm, cute and cosy bars, cafes and restaurants. Delicious food is a highlight of El tarter and there’s plenty of choice for you couples both on the mountain and off the mountains. Dylan’s Chill out bar in the old village area of El Tarter is highly recommended -a modern, contemporary feel with a menu full of flavour to match. The cocktails are worth a mention too! For some exciting non ski activities why not take a husky ride? skidoo rides? Snowshoeing? Or even some snow tubing!
Duncan's Favourite Piste!
I have been lucky enough to ski all over the world, but Aliga is definitely one ranks in the top ten or any official ski piste I have skied. From Hotel Nordic it is a slide down to the El Tarter Quad Chair then a warm up slide through the nursery slopes to the 6 man Tosa Espiolets which drops you up at 2467m. I always start the run from the domineering sculpture of an eagle. The runs starts along the shoulder - nice and wide and steep enough to start picking up some speed carving from edge to edge. Just as the legs start to feel it the piste steepens and after a couple of hundred yards flattens out towards the mid station at El Tarter. A sweeping right hander signifies the half way point. The piste then drops diagonally down through the trees to a long left hand turn. A few hundred yards later I pass the finish area of the actual downhill run then its back to Hotel Nordic to pick the family up. Agile is best tackled first thing in the morning!

Beginners
Beginners here will be in great hands, with the Grandvalira ski and snowboard school which is situated at the top of the El tarter bubble lift. Like Soldeu there is a wonderful nursery area served by a chairlift and drag tows. Beginners will soon find their feet and gain the courage to explore the immediate El Tarter, Soldeu and Canillo slopes.
Intermediates
Intermediate skiers can explore the bowl above El Tarter, it is just fabulous with a choice of long blues and reds coming back to Riba Escorxada. El Tarter provides a great base for exploring the slopes above Soldeu, Canillo and further afield to Pas de la Casa.
Advanced
With Aliga the Ladies FIS World Cup downhill run starting at Tosa dels Espiolets and ending right outside the hotel Nordic there is no reason for an early morning warm up or end of the day blast! There are freeride areas for those who love off piste skiing! Also take advantage of a day trip to Arcalis – one of our favourite small ski areas with huge skiing which is now included in your 6 day ski pass of Grandvalira.
