LES ARCS AT A GLANCE

Les Arcs is made up from 4 purpose built alpine resorts Arcs 1600 and 1800 are on one side of the ski area with Arc 1950 and 2000 on the other. Lower down there are traditional alpine villages such as Vallandry, Peisey and Villaroger. From wide open blues at 1600 link over to some steeper reds in 1800, to snow sheltered tree runs, Les Arcs as a resort has some fantastic family friendly slopes!

Our ideal day in Les Arcs

The Transarc bubble lift up to Col de la Chal opens up the bowl above Les Arcs 1950 and 2000. The runs down to Arc 1950 and 2000 are long and flattering. Things start to get interesting heading up to Grand Col with Refuge a wonderful sweeping black run. Head up to the highest point at the top of Aiguille Rouge 3226m, a tricky red run down back to 2000m with a choice of blue. Or you could ski the longest run from the top all the way down to Villaroger (1200m) with a vertical drop of 2000m. The run for an advanced skier should take up to 10 minutes – what a way to feel alive! Explore 1800 for some fantastic, fast red runs (short but sweet).

WHY WE LOVE LES ARCS

  • Amazing resort for families
  • Access to Paradiski and La Plagne (425kms of skiing)
  • Each village resort has something different

Beginners

Each of the main Les Arcs villages have a great beginner area and several free lifts like magic carpets, drag lifts for beginners. There is a fantastic green at 2000m that is long and perfect for beginners. 1800 also has a fun run (green) for beginners to wind down through the trees, its not to flat and not to steep. A couple of features are also located here to help you progress before venturing up onto the chairlifts to the top of the mountain. With the progression made you will in no time be zooming through the trees down to Vallandry.

Intermediates

Intermediate skiers will fall in love with Les Arcs, there are so many options to explore! Most of the slopes are accessible and not too steep. If the snow is falling head down to Vallandry to ski through the tree runs which are sheltered from the snow, but if it’s a nice day the whole resort is accessible! Make the most of the blue skies and head up to the top of the Aiguille Rouge a long red adjoins a blue which you can really let go and fly! Keen intermediates should purchase the Paradiski ski pass and explore the whole area of La Plagne!

Advanced

The best spot for you advance skiers is at the top of Arc 2000’s bowl, off the Varet Gondola or the top of the Aiguille Rouge. If the snow is fresh head to the ‘natur’ runs marked on the map, just be careful for the moguls that may have been covered by the fresh snow. Purchasing the Paradiski ski pass will only increase your options, especially off piste. If it’s the Snowpark you’re looking for head over to 1800m there are a huge variety of jumps and rails waiting to be used. This snow park is frequently used by professionals and sometimes hold regional championships for the freestyle events!

Family Skiing

Les Arcs is an amazing choice for families wanting a holiday with convenience. With most of the accommodation being ski-in, ski-out and/or self catering apartments. The new Mille 8 section down over in Arc 1800 is a great innovation and it has a brilliant leisure pool at the base, there is also tobogganing and skiing. Arc 1950 has a great set up for families too with almost every hotel or apartment on the slopes. A pretty village square with a different activity almost every night brings the village alive. If you’re looking for a family chalet holiday they tend to be more over towards Peisey-Vallandry.

Ski Schools

Les Arcs has a vast choice of ski schools, but we recommend using ESF in Arc 1800 as their ski meeting point is right at the bottom of the slopes by the main bubble and chair lifts. We also work with New Generation all instructors can speak fluent English!

Other activities

Les Arcs 1950/2000 offer an amazing experience of Zip Lining. Launch yourself from the top off the Varet lift. The zip line can reach up to 130kmh the zip is 1800m long! There is also snow shoeing, the mountain animal museum, sled dog rides, swimming pools, ski touring by guide, paragliding... the list goes on and on.

Free Ski Bus

Les arcs have a free ski bus shuttle service linking all 4 villages together throughout the winter. There are also regular funicular and bus links with the nearest large town, Bourg Saint Maurice!
