Hotel Harfenwirt has a very traditional Austrian ski-hotel feel. It sits in the Wildschönau valley in the Tyrolean Alps, surrounded by snowy fields, forested mountains and ski slopes. The big advantage is its location: it is right beside
the Tennladen ski lift and slopes, with cross-country skiing behind the hotel and a ski bus stopping outside.
The hotel itself is a traditional 3-star Tyrolean hotel, rather than a modern luxury resort. Rooms are generally spacious and traditionally furnished, and many have balconies looking towards the mountains. After a cold day skiing, there is an indoor swimming pool, sauna and hot tub, which gives it a cosy winter-holiday atmosphere.
There is also a restaurant serving Austrian and Tyrolean food, and half-board typically includes a buffet breakfast and a three-course evening meal. Overall, I'd describe Harfenwirt in winter as comfortable, relaxed and very convenient for skiing, especially if you want an old-fashioned Alpine atmosphere rather than something sleek and luxurious.
If you'd like, I can also describe what Niederau itself is like in winter — the village, ski slopes, restaurants and atmosphere around the hotel.
