Madonna di Campiglio
is one of our favourite Italian ski areas with an enough of a mix of blue, red and black runs to keep everyone happy! The nearest airports are Venice and Milan both between 3 and 4 hours transfer time.
Campiglio is the main resort is traffic free and in the centre of the ski area. The resort has a wonderful 2.7km toboggan run which drops over 340m from the top at Monte Spinale. There are a few track side bars and restaurants on the way down for added dutch courage!
Pinzolo in the south and Marilleva in the north are two traditional valley towns which link into the ski area by bubble lift. Folgardia is a traditional alpine resort up at 1400m which offers ski in ski out convenience.
Taking the bubble lift up to Monte Spinale from Madonna is a great way to start the day. Wide blue runs drop down to Groste on blue 71 which joins on to route 66 (!). Take the bubble lft up to Passo Groste for some glorious views over the jagged Dolomites. Heading back down to Madonna the pistes are long wide and fast! For the brave jump on the quad chair up to Monte Spinale and take the black piste down to the resort. The Cinque Laghi on the opposite side of the resort is a wonderful intermediate area of long well groomed red pistes. From Colarin a bubble and chair lift takes you up to Monte Te Grual to access the mainly reds witha handful of blue runs and 2 blacks above Pinzolo.
The new Pradalago bubble lift opens up the northern sector of the ski area. From the top of the bubble bare right past the snow park then head left to the top of the col. A quad chairlift access the p[istes above Marilleva and Folgarida.
